Golden Arrow Technologies delivers latest-generation Search and Rescue craft to Iceland
Golden Arrow Technologies has completed final testing and sea trials of its latest-generation Search and Rescue craft ahead of delivery to Björgunarsveitin Ársæll, a Reykjavík-based volunteer rescue team operating within Iceland’s national ICE-SAR network.
The Gen 3 Search and Rescue craft is purpose-built for demanding operations, providing a fast, agile and highly capable platform for teams responding to incidents in challenging waters.
Before leaving the UK, the craft completed final testing and sea trials with Wessex Rescue at Salterns Marina in Poole Harbour. The trials demonstrated its handling, manoeuvrability and operational configuration ahead of deployment in the North Atlantic.
Designed around the needs of specialist operators
Golden Arrow Technologies has extensive experience in developing specialist rescue and tactical watercraft. Every platform is individually configured around the requirements of the team receiving it, combining proven personal watercraft technology with mission-specific engineering, equipment and modifications.
This latest craft features a distinctive inflatable collar for added stability and protection, alongside an extended rear platform that provides a practical working area for rescue personnel and casualty recovery.
Its operational configuration includes:
- Windscreen and heated hand grips
- Grab rails and specialist lighting
- Saltwater intake strainer and battery isolator
- Power outlets and navigation equipment
- Bespoke ICE-SAR livery
This is the third Search and Rescue craft Golden Arrow Technologies has supplied to Iceland, further strengthening the country’s specialist rescue capabilities.
James Sydenham, Director of Sales at Golden Arrow Technologies, said:
“We are delighted to have supplied three of these exceptional Search and Rescue craft to Björgunarsveitin Ársæll. It is a relationship we are incredibly proud of and one that reflects the trust specialist rescue teams around the world place in our people, our engineering expertise and the equipment we deliver.
“Every craft is developed around the operational needs of the teams who will use it. Seeing this latest generation successfully complete its final trials in Poole Harbour was a proud moment for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing it enter service and support vital rescue operations in Iceland.”
A representative from Björgunarsveitin Ársæll added:
“We have been extremely happy with the three Search and Rescue craft we have purchased from Golden Arrow. They have proven themselves very well in the demanding conditions we operate in here in the North Atlantic and have become a valuable part of our rescue capability.
“The whole experience from the initial sales process and customisation through to delivery and operational use has been exceptionally smooth. The team has been responsive, professional and easy to work with throughout, and we would have no hesitation in recommending Golden Arrow to other Search and Rescue organisations.”
Beyond Search and Rescue
While these platforms are proven assets for volunteer and professional rescue organisations, their speed, manoeuvrability and adaptable configuration make them suitable for a wider range of specialist maritime operations.
Potential applications include fleet extensions for vessel security companies, port and marina patrols, critical infrastructure protection, offshore asset support, incident response, event water safety and coastal law-enforcement support. Their compact size and mission-specific configuration can provide larger operational fleets with a rapid-response capability where conventional vessels may be less practical.
Golden Arrow Technologies provides mission-specific equipment and engineering solutions for Search and Rescue, defence, coastguard and other specialist operators worldwide. Its capabilities include Search and Rescue and Tactical Water Craft, autonomous platforms, electric and hybrid propulsion systems, amphibious craft, all-terrain vehicles and equipment for extreme environments.
